Are You Sure You’re On The Right Road?
Roads In Rome
The ancient Roman Empire was one of the first societies to construct an elaborate road system. In every direction their highways stretched, tying together a vast network of cities. Not only were travel conditions improved, but progress was boosted, as well as the conquest of other lands.
Much time was spent planning, preparing and producing this advanced highway system. No detail was left out: they used proper sloping for drainage, a solid base for durability, and a flat surface for smooth travel.
More than 50,000 miles (80,000 kilometers) of roadway spanned the empire, many of them lasting hundreds of years. “All roads lead to Rome” was a slogan of that day. However, in spite of all their advanced technology, these roads were eventually destroyed by time or replaced by newer civilizations.
“Roads” To Heaven
Today’s societies show much similarity in the so-called “religion” department. Each new generation seems to have its own road to heaven. However, man with all his knowledge cannot find the road to heaven by himself.
Without attempting to point out wrong roads, we can safely say that Jesus Christ is proclaimed to be God’s Son in a human body, and in Him alone can the true road to heaven be found. All other roads are useless, leading to the same destination – destruction in hell.
Only One True “Road”
There is only one way to get to heaven. Try as we might, we can never be good enough for God, because we just can’t get rid of the sins in our lives. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 (nkjv) that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
But all is not lost! There is a way to overcome the result of sin. Romans 6:23 tells us that “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Get On That Road!
You need to believe that Jesus died for your sins and then rose from the grave. Only He could do it because only He was sinless. God’s only Son had to die so you and I could live forever. You need to accept the work of Christ on the cross for yourself.
Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 8:1 assures us that “there is … now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” And Romans 5:1 states, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Choose now the right road to heaven; trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior from sins. He is the only true Road.
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few” (Mt. 7:13-14 ESV).
