What He Says, He Will Do

From time to time we may need to be reminded of the certainty of God’s doing what He has said. As humans, we are at risk of measuring or viewing Him by what we comprehend about mankind. But He is so much greater – on a higher plain altogether. Here are two verses that bear this out:

  • “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Num. 23:19 NKJV).
  • “The Strength of Israel will not lie nor relent. For He is not a man, that He should relent” (1 Sam. 15:29).

How many believers today live in a manner without regard for the fact that much of what is done by them will be burned (1 Cor. 3:15)? We have a desire to live for the Lord, yet we still need to look in the mirror of Scripture, being reminded that we will have to individually give an account for ourselves to God (Rom. 14:12). The judgment of our activities will certainly occur (2 Cor. 5:10).

Likewise, every person since creation who never had faith in God will be “cast into the lake of fire” (Rev. 20:15). Having rejected Him, they will be eternally condemned. If you have not put your trust in the Lord Jesus, do so now! Consider John 3:16-17, where we read: “For God so loved the world [meaning you] that He gave His only begotten Son [Jesus Christ], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world [you], but that the world [you] through Him might be saved.” Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Our lives can change in an instant. And, the disasters and personal tragedies we have seen even recently remind us that we do not live in this world forever. God has declared, “Men … die once, but after this the judgment” (Heb. 9:27). Be assured, what He has said will take place. Are you living with this in mind?
