Who Will Go To Heaven?Do not say in your heart, “Who will ascend into heaven?”
(That is, to bring Christ down from above);
Or, “Who will descend into the abyss?”
(That is, to bring up Christ from the dead).
Romans 10:6-7 No one has ascended to heaven above,
But Jesus, who came down to bring us God’s love.
He laid aside all that He had in that place
To save us from hell by His marvelous grace.
He faced the temptations that we face as men,
And proved that He couldn’t be corrupted by sin;
Then died on the cross for the sins we had done,
And went back to heaven as God’s holy Son. Don’t think that you will ever ascend
To heaven yourself by the good you intend.
Believing you’re holy enough in God’s sight,
Just shows that you don’t understand what is right.
If you think that you can be good as you should,
You’re bringing Christ down to your level of good;
But God knows the thoughts and intents of your heart,
And sees all the sin that remains in each part. And don’t think your soul can descend low enough,
Through penance and sorrow, no matter how rough,
To satisfy God’s righteous judgment for sin,
And bring your soul back into favor again.
Christ humbled Himself to the death of the cross,
And suffered God’s wrath to atone for our loss;
And thinking your sorrow is worthy of gain
Is bringing His up to your level of pain. The debt of our guilt can’t be measured or weighed,
But though we can’t pay it, it’s already paid.
Give up on your struggle to be justified,
And rest in the fact that the Savior has died.
Confess Him as Lord, and make sure that it shows;
Believe in your heart that He died and arose;
Then no matter how you’ve already behaved,
