The Lord Delights In People
The Lord has “delight in the sons of men” (Prov. 8:31 NASB 95), and His appeal goes out to all: “Now therefore, O sons, listen to Me, for blessed are they who keep My ways. Heed instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. Blessed is the man who listens to Me, watching daily at My gates, waiting at My doorposts. For he who finds Me finds life and obtains favor from the L ORD ” (vv.32-35).
We see this appeal going out to people everywhere, as it has since creation. Consider how it relates to the individuals discussed in this magazine. For example, in the Features we focus on Jacob. For a long time, Jacob failed to listen, seeking instead to do things his own way. As we read Scripture, the LORD’s patient working with Jacob is very evident – for decades! Sadly, the Lord may have to work with us in a similar way. How important it is to listen to Him and keep His ways.
In the Series column we find in Jabez one who certainly heeded instruction and was wise. The little that God has chosen to share with us about Jabez presents a good example of one wanting to seek the Lord and His blessing. He was sincere in his newfound faith – not neglecting it at all.
The You Asked question came not long ago from an individual who asked the Lord into his heart when he was young, but has gone wayward in his behavior since. He wondered if there was any hope for him in returning to the Lord. There is not only hope, but blessing as well. In this individual we may be reminded of the importance of being daily in the Lord’s presence, watching and waiting. Anything else will result in lost blessing, at the very least. Thankfully, He is truly a forgiving God!
The person we read about in the Good News column was concerned for her salvation. She had been warned and was taking heed. By finding the Lord Jesus, she found life and obtained favor from the Him. Have you?
Won’t you put your trust in the Lord right now? Let Him work in your life and develop your faith as you listen carefully to Him. Then, He who delights in people will bless you too! We can tell you how.
