📖 Have you ever asked yourself what the Bible will do for you? Have you ever wondered why you should read it?
Before answering these questions, let’s consider:
God has always been trying to speak to man:
“I have called and you refused” (Proverbs 1:24).
From the beginning, as Creator He has been trying to reach our hearts through His creation which surrounds us:
“The heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1).
Now, He has given us His own Word in the form of the Bible,
to communicate with us,
to develop a relationship with us,
and to prepare us for that inevitable meeting with Him (Romans 14:12).
• The Bible will light your way in this dark world (Psalm 119:105)
by introducing you to Jesus, who says,
“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12).
• The Bible will convince you of your need for a Savior.
Many Old and New Testament accounts prove that
“all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
• The Bible will show you how much God loves you and what He has done for you:
“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
• The Bible will present Jesus Christ to you
in His wonderful life,
sacrificial death on the cross for your sins,
triumphant resurrection from the dead,
and glorious ascension as a Man into heaven (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
You will want to trust Him as your Savior!
• The Bible will tell you how to obtain everlasting life:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
• The Bible will show you your future if you accept God’s offer of salvation.
When one of the criminals crucified with Jesus asked to be saved,
Jesus’ said,
“Today you will be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43).
It also says that as soon as a Christian dies he is
“present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8).
• The Bible will warn those who reject God’s offer of salvation:
“The unbelieving … shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone” (Revelation 21:8).
The Bible says that
“The Lord … is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
You need to read the Bible.
The Gospel of John is a good place to begin.
What will this do for you?
It will introduce you to the Savior and lead you into everlasting life!
