Do You Know the Humble King?

History is very interesting. It teaches us many valuable lessons. I have heard more than once about great men who were so humble that they astonished people.

I have read about kings who visited their poor subjects’ homes dressed in simple clothes to inquire about their needs without letting them know they were being visited by royalty. They only revealed themselves after they supplied the poor with what they needed. One of them was the great Caliph (Khaleefa) Omar of Arabia.

True Nobility

We cannot help but admire such noble deeds. To combine greatness and humility is true nobility. But if man can do such noble deeds, can anyone prevent God from doing what is even nobler?

The greater the person, the more we admire him for being humble. But who is the greatest one? It is God, of course. His glory infinitely exceeds that of all others, both of men or angels. He is the Creator of heaven and earth.

Therefore it would be the greatest and noblest thing in history if He decided to come to this earth in the form of a man. Just as some wise kings knew they had to appear in a humble form in order not to frighten those in need, so God appeared in a humble way so as not to frighten man to death.

He had to appear in a way that would allow Him to communicate with us, and us with Him. This appearing is called His Incarnation. God did this when Christ came to earth.

God’s Desire

From the beginning of history God has been speaking to our human race. He spoke through the greatness of His creation: the sun, moon and stars; the mountains, seas, trees and flowers; the many beautiful birds and animals.

He spoke more clearly through His prophets in many different ways. But finally and best of all He spoke to us through Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:1).

The Bible tells us this about Christ:

“The fullness of the Godhead was pleased to dwell in Him” (Colossians 1:19; 2:9)

and that He existed from all eternity with God, and that no man has seen God. But Christ came here to declare in His very person all the attributes of God (John 1:18).

Through Christ, the power, wisdom, and love of God are clearly seen. They are seen in the life, actions and teachings of Christ. That is why the Bible says:

“Great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16).

Sincere Request

We can know God and come to Him only through the unique Person of Jesus Christ, who said:

“I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

He is the King of Kings who humbled Himself for your sake, dear friend.

Would you receive Him today? Simply confess to Him that you are a sinner and ask His forgiveness. He will forgive and come into your life!
