What You Should Know

If you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you can be certain of these things:

✔ You are a child of God:

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God…”
(John 1:12)

✔ You are forgiven and justified:

“He has … forgiven you all trespasses.”
(Colossians 2:13)
“Justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
(Romans 3:24)

✔ You have new life from God:

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…”
(2 Corinthians 5:17)

✔ You are saved for eternity:

“…has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”
(John 5:24)

✔ The Holy Spirit lives in you:

“Having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise…”
(Ephesians 1:13-14)

✔ You have peace with God:

“Having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
(Romans 5:1)

These truths establish your eternal position before God. However, your present spiritual condition depends on your practical obedience to His Word.

What You Should Do

Here are several things you can do to please God and grow spiritually:

✔ Openly confess Christ before others:

✔ Be baptized:

(Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:36)

✔ Surrender your life to God:

(Jeremiah 7:23)

✔ Read the Bible daily:
For growth (1 Peter 2:2), protection (Psalm 119:11), and guidance (Psalm 119:105).

✔ Pray, praise, and worship:
Tell God everything and pray with thanksgiving.

(Philippians 4:6; 1 John 5:14-15)

✔ Gather with other Christians:
Do not neglect this privilege.

(Luke 22:19; Matthew 18:20)

✔ Give to the Lord:
Give your time, talents, and resources cheerfully.

(2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

✔ Witness to others:
Share the good news by word and walk.

(Acts 1:8)

✔ Do good works:
Not to earn salvation but to glorify God.

(Ephesians 2:10)

✔ Confess sins immediately:

(1 John 1:9; Proverbs 28:13)

✔ Look for the Lord’s coming:
Live daily in expectation of His return.

(Matthew 24:42; Titus 2:13)
