Found Out!
Shoes Talk
Mr. Brown’s fruit tree was full of ripe, juicy fruit. “Let’s take some,” Jim said. “It’ll taste really good.” “Isn’t that stealing?” questioned Steve. “We’ll take just enough to eat.” “Suppose we get caught,” said Steve. “Don’t worry. Mr. Brown will never know,” Jim replied with a smile.
Nobody saw them. But the next day, Steve felt so bad that he decided to confess to Mr. Brown, the shoe repairman. Mr. Brown happily accepted Steve’s apology. “I’m glad you admitted it. I knew it was you. Is your friend Jim going to confess also?” Steve’s mouth dropped open. “How did you know it was us?” Mr. Brown explained, “I’ve been watching that fruit ripen all summer. I could tell some was stolen. I knew you did it, because of your shoe prints in the dirt. I just put new heels on your shoes recently, right?”
Steve and Jim were found out!
Money Talks
Jackie got a part-time job in a big store. As she looked at a cash register she thought, “I’d like some of that money.” One day she found a cash drawer unattended. She was scared, but she stole a dollar. The next day, feeling bolder, she took two dollars.
As the days went by, she took more and more money from the cash drawer. She always made sure no one saw her. One day, after she had taken some money, the manager called her to his office and said, “Jackie, we’re missing some money from one of the cash registers. Do you know anything about it?” “No,” Jackie answered calmly. “Can I see the money in your pocket?” “Yes,” offered Jackie as she gave it to him, “but my mother gave this to me.”
The manager examined the dollars carefully. Then he said, “Jackie, you are a liar and a thief. We marked the money in the cash drawer, and this is that money. I am calling the police.”
Jackie was found out!
God Talks To You
You may think you are getting away with lying, stealing or other bad things, but God sees everything you do: “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3). “Be sure your sins will find you out” (Numbers 32:23).
Maybe you think you are not as bad as Steve, Jim and Jackie. But God says, “All have sinned.” He also says, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life” (Romans 3:23; 6:23).
Will You Talk To God?
Do you want God’s gift of eternal life? Then talk to God! Admit your sins to Him and ask Him to forgive you. He will, because He loves you!
