He Is Risen !

An old man was looking into a store window
at a painting of Christ suffering on the cross.
He was so occupied that he did not notice
a small boy near him.

This boy had attended a Bible class
where he was told about the wonderful love
of the Lord Jesus.

He had heard:

– how Jesus left heaven’s glory to come to this earth
– how He went around doing good and healing sick people, yet had no home of His own
– how He was crucified by those who hated Him and died like a criminal on a wooden cross even though He had never sinned and how His friends put His body in a tomb.

Suddenly, the old man heard the boy speaking.
He was retelling the story of the cross as he had heard it in the Bible class.

When the boy finished speaking, he walked away,
leaving the old man still looking intently at the picture
while the “old, old story” of the Savior’s love gripped his heart.

Then he felt a tug on his sleeve.
The young gospel preacher had returned.
Pointing to the picture, he announced with great emphasis:

“One more thing, Mister—He is risen!”

And the boy left abruptly, as though his work was complete.

The boy is right—
the Bible declares that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead
and is seated at God’s right hand in heaven.
