A young woman proclaimed to her friend:
“I'm here for a good time,”
yet her choice held deeper implications. Her companion cautioned,
"But when the good time is over, what then? Facing God’s judgment on your life?"
The girl replied with future intentions, saying she planned to "get right with God" later.
Her friend warned:
“You may not celebrate your next birthday. You might never have another chance to prepare for eternity.”
Despite these warnings, the young woman laughed it off and continued her pursuit of fleeting pleasures. Tragically, a few weeks later, she met an abrupt end, having no time to seek mercy or salvation.
Her story serves as a cautionary tale—her choice of "passing pleasures of sin" (Hebrews 11:25) over Christ as her Savior reflects a common pitfall. Do you find yourself thinking similarly? Are you, like the young woman, living for temporary joys rather than eternal ones?
Are You Living for Temporary Pleasures?
Consider whether your attitude mirrors her:
"I’m here for a good time,"
Does this describe your life as well? The Bible warns against being “lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:4). If so, let the young woman’s end serve as a stark warning.
Remember—eternity comes after this life. You could enter it any time. While the pleasures of sin are fleeting, their penalties endure forever! Are these temporary delights truly worth enduring eternal consequences? Like soap bubbles, they seem beautiful and enticing but ultimately empty.
True Joy Comes from Christ
Jesus promised something far more fulfilling:
“Whoever drinks of this water (this world’s pleasure) will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:13-14).
The Bible assures us that those who enter God's presence will find “fullness of joy” and “pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11). Now, that’s what a good timetruly is!
Make Your Choice
Choose now—the best choice. Satan might mislead you into thinking all "good times" must be forsaken to follow Christ. Don't believe him; he is a liar (John 8:44).
Christians experience genuine happiness because their sins are washed away by Jesus Christ's blood, giving them peace with God and the promise of eternal joy in His presence.
If your heart longs for true, lasting peace and joy, turn to Jesus. He died on the cross for you. Confess your sins in repentance, accept Him as Savior, and He will save you.
