Prophetic Events Soon To Come
By E. C. Hadley
Several years have passed since the last edition of this booklet on prophecy was printed. The situation in the Middle East remains unsettled. Since 1967, the old temple site has been in Israel’s hands, yet a Muslim mosque still stands there as one of the most sacred spots for Muslims.
Occasionally, reports surface suggesting that Israel is preparing to rebuild the temple, collecting materials and making plans. Prior to 1967, many Christians questioned how Israel would ever regain the temple site in Jerusalem, but it happened — in just six days.
In today’s rapidly changing world, it is not beyond reason that Israel will soon be free to carry out its desire to rebuild the temple on the ancient site and re-establish sacrifices.
Prophecy clearly indicates that a temple must be rebuilt, and sacrifices must be resumed according to Mosaic rites before the final seven years of Israel’s history begin. This period is referred to in Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15, and 2 Thessalonians 2:4, where the temple is mentioned in relation to the events of Israel’s last seven years. Daniel 9:27 reads: “And he [the Roman prince or dictator] shall confirm a covenant with the many [of the Jews] for one week [seven years]; and in the midst of the week, he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…” (JND).
This prophecy, along with Matthew 24:15 and 2 Thessalonians 2:4, shows that the Jews will rebuild the temple and reinstate sacrifices according to the law.
For this to occur, Israel must have possession of the temple site, which, in God’s providence, is now in Israel’s hands, allowing for the fulfillment of prophecies written by Daniel over 2,500 years ago.
The events of the 1967 Six-Day War marked a significant step toward fulfilling Daniel’s prophecies. The last seven years of Israel’s history will begin immediately after the rapture of the Church, which must happen first.
As the realization of this truth becomes clearer, we are reminded that the rapture cannot be delayed much longer! May this awareness stir us to stay alert, to live in constant communion with the Lord, and to be ready for His imminent return.
May the Lord encourage every believer to study these prophecies carefully, for Satan strives to keep God’s children from understanding God’s prophetic Word. Let us not waste time, but walk day by day in a manner that is pleasing to Him, ready for His return.
