In the bustling streets of ancient Athens, a preacher named Paul found himself amidst a world teeming with diverse beliefs and countless idols. His journey led him to an altar dedicated โTo the Unknown Godโ (Acts 17:23 NKJV), symbolizing the people's desire not to overlook any deity.
Todayโs world mirrors that of Athens. With myriad perspectives on divinity, questions arise about who God is, what He desires from us, and whether our beliefs truly matter. Whether your family holds onto one specific god, embraces many, or denies a divine presence entirely, these queries resonate deeply.
Paul seized this moment to share his faith in the God yet unknown to them โ the omnipotent Creator, revealed through the Bible (Acts 9, 22, 26). He proclaimed that this true God knew all and encompassed all power. Not only did He craft the earth but also knew each personโs place and time in it.
โHe is not far from each one of us,โ Paul declared. If we reach out, we will find Him (v.27).
Most importantly, Paul shared that this God is known through Jesus Christ. Our sins create distance from Him, yet Jesus offered Himself as the holy payment for our wrongs. His resurrection confirmed His divine acceptance and qualified Him to judge humanity one day. Without faith in Jesus now, we must face judgment for our sins later.
Some laughed at Paulโs message; others pondered it deeply. Yet some embraced this God previously unknown to them. Will you? The God you donโt know yet is the great, true God who knows and loves you, calling you to trust in Jesus Christ for salvation from your sins.
